Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Penmans Solicitors , there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions.
Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for Penmans Solicitors:
● Image text alternative: Some images do not have a text alternative, so
people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG
2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). because there can be delays
updating “Alternative Text” when media is added.. These are usually audited
and updated within 28 business days within the site maintenance. . Please
report any missing alternative text within sites “contact form” or use the
accessibility feedback contact points.
● PDFs and other documents: Some of our PDFs and Word documents are
essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with
information on how users can access our services, and forms published as
Word documents because the accessibility regulations do not require us to fix
PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not
essential to providing our services.. By 2025, we plan to either fix these or
replace them with accessible HTML pages.. Please report any issues within
sites “contact form” or use the accessibility feedback contact points.
● Form Labels : Some form fields may be missing labels. This fails WCAG 2.1
success criterion 2.5.3 (Label in Name) because Fields are sometimes added
dynamically through 3rd party services. . Continue to review fields and resolve
missing labels where possible or switch providers. Please report any issues
within sites “contact form” or use the accessibility feedback contact points.
● Live video: Live video / audio may not contain captions. This fails WCAG 2.1
success criterion 1.2.4 Captions (Live) because . We do not plan to add
captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the
accessibility regulations.. You may request transcripts of live events through
our contact form or accessibility feedback contact points.
● Images with text: Some of our images have text on them, so people using a
screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success
criterion 1.4.5 (Images of text). because . We will actively avoid using media
with text within it. Where that’s not possible, this media will be updated or text
alternatives will be provided.. Please report any issues within sites “contact
form” or use the accessibility feedback contact points.
● Anchor Links: On some of our webpages, the functionality we have used has
added local links (anchor links) but the destination does not exist. This makes
it confusing for assisted technologies to navigate the site. This fails WCAG 2.1
success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships). because . . Please report any
issues within sites “contact form” or use the accessibility feedback contact
points.
● Form elements are not grouped : Some of our form elements are not
grouped with a field-set to make them easier to navigate through. This fails
WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships) 3.3.2 (Labels or
instructions). because Forms are sometimes added dynamically through 3rd
party services. . Continue to review fields and resolve missing labels where
possible or switch providers. Please report any issues within sites “contact
form” or use the accessibility feedback contact points.
